Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens
If you are wondering whether hypnotherapy is a real thing or a stage act, you are not alone, and it is a fair question to ask. It is a relaxed and focused state, and it is used these days in many serious settings.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Clinical hypnotherapy with me is one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens. I see people for habits, weight, anxiety, sleep, grief, trauma, pain management, tinnitus, IBS, phobias, FND, confidence and performance, and most of them finish in one to four appointments. What I do sits alongside your doctor's care rather than in place of it.
Most of what brings people to me has been thought about a great deal already. That is usually the problem rather than the cure, because the habit or the feeling is not being produced by the part of the mind that does the thinking.
Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe and to conserve energy, so it prefers what is familiar, even when you consciously want something different. In a relaxed, focused state it is more open to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is why people who have tried everything sensible often find that hypnosis is the only thing that shifts from the old to the new.
The question I am asked most on the phone
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
One to one, in my own rooms, whatever you have come about

First
What has been going on, how long it has been like this, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me, and there is nothing here you need to be embarrassed about.
Then
You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Last
What tends to set the old pattern off, what you might do instead, and whether coming again would help. You leave with something to use rather than only something to think about.

It is not something that is done to you while you sit there. You play an active part in it, and one of my own clients put it better than I could when she wrote that it does not do all the hard work for you. What it can do is make the hard work possible where willpower alone has not been.
Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.
All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.
I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one thing in isolation. If you are not sure which page describes you, ring me and we will work it out on the phone.
There is a page on Regression Hypnotherapy in Newcastle too, and hypnotherapy with me in Newcastle has the rest of it.

Owner of Holistic Health Hypnotherapy
I see people one to one, in my own rooms at Lambton. My diploma covered clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, life coaching and counselling modules, as well as trauma therapy, EMDR and psychotherapy and I have spent over thirty years in health and wellness. I am not a psychologist or a counsellor, and where your doctor is the right person I will tell you so.
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. Most people tell me afterwards that it felt far more ordinary than they expected. Some people say they felt like they just had 8 hours sleep.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Most people can, and being willing matters far more than being suggestible. Sceptical people do perfectly well, and a good many of my clients started there.
One for the quit work, three or four for most of the rest. We talk about that at your consultation rather than committing you to a number up front.
No. I am a clinical hypnotherapist and I do not take counselling clients. What I do sits alongside talk therapy rather than replacing it.
It is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.
No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.

The consultation is free. Pick a time in my calendar and tell me where you are up to, and if I do not think I can help you I will say so.
Pick a day and time that suits you, and I will call you then.
