Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens

Hypnotherapy for Motivation in Newcastle

If you know exactly what to do and find yourself not doing it, you are not alone, and it was never laziness. Something is protecting you from starting, and that is the part I work with.

Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Brenda Faugere, clinical hypnotherapist in Lambton, Newcastle

Motivation work with me is one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens. Together we look at what sits in the gap between knowing and doing, in a relaxed and focused state where the subconscious mind is more open to change.

Why New Year motivation so often runs out by February

Motivation at the start of something is mostly feeling, and feelings move. What is left when the feeling goes is the pattern you already had, and your subconscious mind prefers what is familiar because familiar is how it judges something to be safe.

Underneath a great deal of putting things off there is something else: a fear of doing it badly, an old belief about whether it is for people like you, or simply a life that got busy again. Not because you did not care.

None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is the reason we work at that level rather than looking for more willpower.

What hypnosis is, and what it is like

The question I am asked most on the phone

How it feels

A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.

You stay in control

You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.

Where it is used

Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.

What we do in your sessions

One to one, in my own rooms, and we start with what you are avoiding

A closed notebook, a pencil and a cup of coffee on a desk in morning light

First

We talk first

What you have been putting off, how long it has been sitting there, what happens when you go to start, and what you have already tried. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me.

Then

Then the hypnosis

You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state, and we work on what is sitting in the way. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can stop whenever you want to.

Last

Then we look at what comes next

The first step you will actually take, what tends to knock you off it, and what we work on when you next come in. James, whose words are below, came back for exactly this after his weight sessions.

How many sessions this usually takes

One or two where it is one job you have been avoiding, and three or four where it has been the pattern for years. We can generally work this out when we have our initial phone consulation.

Your part in it

Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.

All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.

Often it is not only about motivation

People come to me about one thing and we frequently find ourselves talking about sleep, or stress, or confidence, or a stretch of life that got very heavy, because these things rarely sit on their own.

I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one goal in isolation. If there is something else going on for you, bring it with you and we will look at it together.

If it is really Hypnotherapy for Confidence in Newcastle you are after, there is one on that, and the other work I do in Newcastle has all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this just a motivational talk?

It is not. We work on what has been sitting in the way, which is usually a belief or a fear rather than a shortage of enthusiasm. The change comes about through the power of hypnosis, not just talk therapy.

What if I do not know why I am avoiding it?

Most people do not, and that is fine. Finding it is my part of the work rather than yours.

How many sessions will I need?

One or two for a single job, three or four where it has been the pattern for years. We talk about that at your consultation.

Does it work for study?

Yes, and students are a good part of who I see for this.

Will I lose control or say something I would rather keep to myself?

You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.

What if I have been diagnosed with something that affects this?

Tell me on the phone. I work alongside your medical care rather than instead of it, and where your doctor is the right first call I will say so.

Where are your rooms?

Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.

Is hypnotherapy covered by Medicare?

No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
