Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens
If you have tried to leave it alone before and it did not hold, you are not alone, and it was never a lack of willpower. Habits live in the subconscious mind, and that is the part I work with.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Quit cannabis therapy with me is one appointment, one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens. Together we look at the habit itself and at the job it has been doing for you, whether that is winding down, switching off or sleeping etc. If in the unlikely case that it ever resurfaces, you have one backup session with me which is free.
Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe and to conserve energy, so it prefers what is familiar, even when you consciously want something different. When you set out to stop on willpower alone, you are pushing against tiredness, doubt, emotional triggers and a habit that has been learned over years.
Cannabis also tends to carry an extra layer, because for most of the people I see it is doing a job or self medicating. It is how the day gets closed off, or how a busy mind gets quiet enough to sleep. Take it away without addressing the job it's doing leads to it having nowhere to go, which is where a lot of attempts come undone.
None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is the reason we cover the job it does as well as the habit itself.
The question I am asked most on the phone
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
One appointment, one to one, in my own rooms

First
How much, how often, how long it has been going on, what it does for you, and what the evenings look like when you go without. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me, and there is nothing here you need to be embarrassed about.
Then
You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can stop whenever you want to.
Last
The first fortnight, the moments that may test you, what you might do instead, and how to reach me if you ever want that backup session. You leave knowing what happens if a hard week turns up.

If the habit comes back at any point, you come back to me and we work on it again. That session is free, for life. You ring me and we book it. A habit that took years can have a bad week in it, and I would rather hear from you in that week.
Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.
All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.
People come to me about cannabis and we frequently find ourselves talking about sleep, or anxiety, or the pressure they have been carrying, because it is very often doing a job for them somewhere else in their life.
I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one habit in isolation. If there is something else going on for you, bring it with you and we will look at it together.

Owner of Holistic Health Hypnotherapy
I see people one to one, in my own rooms at Lambton, and the quit work is my specialty. Most people are apprehensive or even sceptical when they arrive, and I would far rather you were honest with me about that than pretending. Nothing said in the room leaves it.
Yes. It is one practitioner in private rooms, with no reception desk and nobody else in the building who needs to know why you are there.
Not at all. Come as you are, on the amount you are on now, and please do not feel you need to tidy anything up before you get here.
One for most people I see for this, and your backup session is free either way. If we find there is more going on, I will tell you that rather than leave you guessing.
Sleep and mood take a knock for some people at the start. Tell me on the phone and I build it into what we do in the session.
You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Speak to your prescribing doctor first, and tell me when you call. I work alongside your medical care rather than instead of it.

No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
These are independent Australian health and professional bodies. They are not connected to this practice and they do not endorse it.
The consultation is free. Pick a time in my calendar and tell me where you are up to, and if I do not think I can help you I will say so.
Pick a day and time that suits you, and I will call you then.
