Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens
If you catch yourself doing it before you have decided to, you are not alone, and it was never a lack of willpower. Habits live in the subconscious mind, and that is the part I work with.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Habit work with me is one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens. Nail biting, snacking, scrolling, teeth grinding, hair pulling and the evening drink are the ones I see most. Together we look at the habit itself and at what it is doing for you, in a relaxed and focused state, where the subconscious mind is more open to change.
A habit gets learned so that you do not have to think about it, which is your mind being efficient rather than careless. Once it is learned, the deciding part of you is no longer involved, and that is exactly the part willpower speaks to.
Most habits are also doing a job - benefiting you in some way. They soothe something, or fill a gap, or mark the end of something. Take one away without touching the job or benefit and it usually comes back, or another one arrives in its place.
None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is the reason we cover the job it does as well as the habit itself.
The question I am asked most on the phone
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
One to one, in my own rooms, and one appointment is often enough

First
When it started, when it happens, what tends to come just before it, and what you have already tried. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me, and there is nothing here you need to be embarrassed about.
Then
You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can stop whenever you want to.
Last
The moments that may test you, what you might do instead, and whether coming again would help. You leave with something to use rather than only something to think about.

One for a habit that sits on its own, which is how Denise and Lisa describe theirs above. Longer where it is attached to stress or to something older. We can work that out in our initial phone consult generally, and occaisionally it becomes obvious later.
Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.
All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.
People come to me about one thing and we frequently find ourselves talking about sleep, or stress, or confidence, or a stretch of life that got very heavy, because these things rarely sit on their own.
I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one goal in isolation. If there is something else going on for you, bring it with you and we will look at it together.
If what you have read here is not quite it, the coaching side of what I do lists everything else I see people for, and there is a page on Hypnotherapy for Motivation in Newcastle as well.

Owner of Holistic Health Hypnotherapy
I see people one to one, in my own rooms at Lambton. My diploma covered clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, life coaching and counselling modules, and I have spent over thirty years in health and wellness. I am not a psychologist or a counsellor, and where your doctor is the right person I will tell you so.
Nail biting, snacking, scrolling, teeth grinding, hair pulling and the evening drink. Quitting smoking and vaping have their own pages because the work is a little different.
One for a habit that sits on its own, and longer where it is attached to something else. We talk about that at your consultation.
That is exactly why we cover the job the habit is doing rather than only the habit itself.
It is not silly to me. I have heard a great many of these, and the ones people are most embarrassed by are usually the most common.
You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
I do, with a parent or guardian involved. Ring me and tell me the situation and we can work out whether it is the right time for them.
Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.
No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
These are independent Australian health and professional bodies. They are not connected to this practice and they do not endorse it.
The consultation is free. Pick a time in my calendar and tell me where you are up to, and if I do not think I can help you I will say so.
Pick a day and time that suits you, and I will call you then.
