Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens

NLP Coaching in Newcastle

If the same thought turns up at the same moment every time, you are not alone, and you did not choose it. Thinking runs in patterns, and patterns can be worked with.

Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Brenda Faugere, clinical hypnotherapist in Lambton, Newcastle

NLP work with me is one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens. I am a certified NLP practitioner and a clinical hypnotherapist, and I often use the two together: NLP for the pattern you can hear yourself running, and hypnosis for what is holding it in place.

What NLP is, in plain words

NLP is a set of ways of noticing how a person thinks: the words they use about themselves, the pictures they run before a hard moment, the order in which a reaction arrives. Once you can see the pattern, it stops being simply who you are.

On its own that noticing can be enough for something recent. Where a pattern has been running for years it is usually held in place by a belief, and that is where the hypnosis part earns its keep.

None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is the reason I was taught both and use both.

Working with an NLP practitioner in Newcastle

The question I am asked most on the phone

How it feels

It often involves a series of questions to understand the pattern whilst you are in a relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. We decode the pattern in a very simple way. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.

You stay in control

You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.

Where it is used

Hypnosis and NLP is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in weight management, in habit cessasation like quit smoking, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.

What we do in your sessions

One to one, in my own rooms, with one to four appointments

Index cards, a pen and a cup of coffee on a table in daylight

First

We talk first

The moment it happens, the words that go through your head, what you have already tried, and what you would like instead. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me.

Then

Then we work with the pattern

We change how it runs, and where it is being held in place by an older belief we go there in that relaxed, focused state. You remain fully aware and can stop whenever you want to.

Last

Then we set the next step

Where you will notice it next, what to do when it turns up, and what we work on when you next come in. You leave with something to use rather than only something to think about.

What I ask of you

You have to be willing to look at how you talk to yourself, and that is not always comfortable. Clients who get the most from this are the ones who are honest with me about the unflattering bits, and I have heard all of them before.

Your part in it

Hypnotherapy and NLP is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.

All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.

Often it is not only about the one pattern

People come to me about one thing and we frequently find ourselves talking about sleep, or stress, or confidence, or a stretch of life that got very heavy, because these things rarely sit on their own.

I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one goal in isolation. If there is something else going on for you, bring it with you and we will look at it together.

If it is really Confidence Coaching in Newcastle you are after, there is one on that, and the wider coaching work has all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know anything about NLP before I come?

Not a thing. Explaining what we are doing as we go is part of the session.

Is this hypnotherapy or coaching?

Both, and I would not separate them for you. Which one leads depends on what we find in the first appointment.

How many sessions will I need?

Three or four for most people I see for this. We talk about that at your consultation rather than committing you to a number up front.

Are you actually qualified in it?

Yes. I am a certified NLP practitioner, and my hypnotherapy diploma covered NLP as well.

Will I lose control or say something I would rather keep to myself?

You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.

Can this help with work situations?

It can, and a good deal of what I see is about how somebody handles one particular room or one particular person.

Where are your rooms?

Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.

Is hypnotherapy covered by Medicare?

No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
