Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens
If your mind runs ahead of you and will not settle, you are not alone, and it is not something you have brought on yourself. Anxiety comes from a part of the mind that is trying to keep you safe, and that is the part I work with.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

Anxiety work with me is one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens, and most people I see for it come four times. Together we look at what sets it off and at what it has been protecting you from, in a relaxed and focused state where the subconscious mind is more open to change.
Anxiety does not come from the part of you that reasons. It comes from an older part whose whole job is to keep you safe, and that part learned somewhere along the way that a particular situation, or a particular feeling, needed watching.
So you can know, completely, that the meeting is fine and the drive is fine, and still feel your chest go tight, because the two parts are not speaking the same language.
None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is the reason I work at the subconscious level rather than by talking you out of it.
The question I am asked most on the phone
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
One to one, in my own rooms, usually across several appointments

First
When it started, where it turns up, what happens in your body, and what you have already tried. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me, and there is nothing here you need to be embarrassed about.
Then
You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state, which for a lot of anxious people is the first proper rest they have had in a while. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can stop whenever you want to.
Last
What tends to set it off, what you might do in the moment, and what we work on when you next come in. You leave with something to use rather than only something to think about.

Four for most of the people I see for anxiety, and sometimes more where it has been there a very long time, it can end up six or eight. A commitment of four to start with is ideal and if we need another one or two sessions, we can discuss that once we've worked through the layers of the other sessions.
Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.
All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.
People come to me about one thing and we frequently find ourselves talking about sleep, or stress, or grief, or a stretch of life that got very heavy, because these things rarely sit on their own.
I have worked in health and wellness for over thirty years and I work with the whole person rather than with one symptom in isolation. If there is something else going on for you, bring it with you and we will look at it together.
People often read about Anxiety Hypnotherapy Program in Newcastle alongside it, and everything I see people for on the mind side is where everything else sits.

Owner of Holistic Health Hypnotherapy
I see people one to one, in my own rooms at Lambton. My diploma covered clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, life coaching and counselling modules, as well as trauma, EMDR and psychotherapy. I have spent over thirty years in health and wellness. I am not a psychologist or a counsellor, and where your doctor is the right person I will tell you so.
No. You tell me what you want me to know, and we can work with a great deal less detail than people expect. What matters is the pattern, not the whole story. That's one of the great things about hypnotherapy, you can overcome these issues in the privacy of your own mind - it's not talk therapy.
Three or four for most people I see for anxiety. We talk about that at your consultation rather than committing you to a number up front.
Yes, and keep taking what your doctor has prescribed. I work alongside your medical care rather than instead of it, and any change to medication is a conversation with your GP.
You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Most of the people I see arrive apprehensive or even sceptical, and I would far rather you were honest with me about that than pretending otherwise. It does not get in the way.
No. I am a clinical hypnotherapist and I do not take counselling clients. What I do sits alongside talk therapy rather than replacing it, and where your doctor is the right first call I will say so.
Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.
No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
These are independent Australian health and professional bodies. They are not connected to this practice and they do not endorse it.
The consultation is free. Pick a time in my calendar and tell me where you are up to, and if I do not think I can help you I will say so.
Pick a day and time that suits you, and I will call you then.
