Hypnotherapy in Newcastle & Tea Gardens
If you are looking for help with how you have been feeling and you are not sure where to start, you are in the right place, and you do not need the right word for it before you ring.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me where you are up to, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person to help.

I see people one to one, in my rooms at Lambton or at Tea Gardens, for anxiety, depression, stress, sleep, grief, trauma, FND and confidence. Most people come four times and occasionally some up to 10 times. What I do sits alongside your doctor's care rather than in place of it, and I will say so when your GP is the right first call.
Most of what brings people to me has been thought about a great deal already. That is usually the problem rather than the cure, because the feeling is not being produced by the part of the mind that does the thinking.
Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe and to conserve energy, so it prefers what is familiar, even when you consciously want something different. A relaxed, focused state is where it is more open to change.
None of that is a personal failure. It is simply how the mind works, and it is why people who have tried everything sensible often find something shift when they come to see me.
The question I am asked most on the phone
A relaxed, focused state, a bit like being deeply absorbed in something. In that state the mind is more receptive to suggestions that fit with what you already want for yourself.
You remain fully aware throughout. You hear everything I say, you can talk to me, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Hypnosis is used these days in dentistry, in medicine, in law enforcement, in professional sport and in education, alongside therapeutic work like mine.
One to one, in my own rooms, whatever you have come about

First
What has been going on, how long it has been like this, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. I am listening for the pattern underneath what you tell me.
Then
You settle back in the chair and I guide you into that relaxed, focused state, and we work on what we found. You hear every word I say, you can talk to me, and you can stop whenever you want to.
Last
What tends to set it off, what you might do in the moment, and what we work on when you come again. You leave with something to use rather than only something to think about.

If you have not spoken to your GP about how you have been feeling, please do. I am a clinical hypnotherapist rather than a psychologist or a doctor, and there are things that belong with them first. Call Lifeline on 13 11 14 at any hour for immediate help.
Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you. You play an active part in it, and it takes determination and commitment on your behalf. When it goes well, we have achieved that together, and the part you played in it is a real one.
All you need is an open mind, to be able to follow simple instructions and want the change for yourself, not because someone else wants the change.
If none of this is quite it, ring me anyway. People rarely arrive with a tidy heading or label, and I have worked through my own personal development as well as in the health and wellness industry for over thirty years with the whole person, rather than with one symptom in isolation.
The pages under this one say what each piece of work involves: anxiety hypnotherapy in Newcastle, hypnotherapy for low mood in Newcastle, hypnotherapy for stress in Newcastle and trauma hypnotherapy in Newcastle. If you are not sure which fits, where everything I do is listed is the place to start.

Owner of Holistic Health Hypnotherapy
I see people one to one, in my own rooms at Lambton. My diploma covered clinical hypnotherapy, NLP, life coaching and counselling modules, as well as trauma therapy, EMDR and psychotherapy and I have spent over thirty years in health and wellness. I am not a psychologist or a counsellor, and where your doctor is the right person I will tell you so.
Yes. Ring me and describe it in your own words. Putting a name to it is my job rather than yours, and often we do not need one at all to enable you to bring about positive change.
Three or four for most of the people I see for this kind of work. We talk about that at your consultation rather than committing you to a number up front.
No. I am a clinical hypnotherapist and I do not take counselling clients. What I do sits alongside talk therapy rather than replacing it.
Yes, and keep taking what your doctor has prescribed. Any change is a conversation with your GP rather than with me.
You remain fully aware and in control the whole time. You hear everything, you can speak, and you can bring yourself out of it whenever you like.
Most of the people I see arrive apprehensive or even sceptical, and I would far rather you were honest with me about that than pretending otherwise. It does not get in the way.
Suite 5, 115 Elder Street, Lambton NSW 2299, and I also see people at Tea Gardens.
No. Medicare doesn't cover hypnotherapy, and it can't be claimed on a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Whether your private health fund pays anything back depends on your fund and your extras cover, so it's worth checking with them before you book. If you'd like to talk it through first, book a free phone call with me.
These are independent Australian health and professional bodies. They are not connected to this practice and they do not endorse it.
The consultation is free. Pick a time in my calendar and tell me where you are up to, and if I do not think I can help you I will say so.
Pick a day and time that suits you, and I will call you then.
